Answer: That’s okay. Our team can handle the DNS changes for you if you grant us access to your domain registrar. If you have someone on your team who manages DNS, we’ll provide the exact records they need.
Process (if you’re interested)
Setting up a custom domain involves a few technical steps (mainly DNS and related configuration), but we handle the heavy lifting for you. Here’s how the process works:
- Choose to either register a new domain or use an existing one.
- Let us know the domain name you’d like to use.
- We’ll start by integrating your custom domain into our systems, including the Event Smart network, email sending, reCaptcha, Google Maps, and more.
- Update the DNS records (either by you or by us, if we have access). This step is the most technically complex part of the process, which is why we recommend letting us manage it when possible.
- Create your custom email address (e.g., orders@EVENTDOMAIN.COM) or set up an email forwarder. This can be done by you or by us, if we have access. Keep in mind that some domain registrars may charge additional fees for custom email addresses. However, if you register your domain through us, we can forward emails from orders@… to another email address at no extra cost.
- Once the DNS records have fully propagated, we can assign your custom domain to your Event Smart website.
- Perform a full search and replace across the entire database, updating all instances of the old sub-domain to the new custom domain.
- Configure the server to redirect all old URLs to the corresponding new custom domain URLs.
In many cases, this entire process can be completed within two business days once we have your domain information and any required access. If a customer is unfamiliar with updating DNS records, it can take longer, which is why we strongly recommend registering the domain through us or allowing our team to manage DNS where possible.
